Our first competition of the 2018/19 season was judged by Cat Humphries who gave each image a detailed and helpful critique.
In the Beginners’ section, Wai Cheung’s “In Thought” was awarded 20 and the extra point and his “Star Dancer” 18. Our newest member Kathy Cameron, in her first foray into the camera club world and competitions, scored 19 for “Curious Squirrel”. Congratulations Wai and to Kathy.
The high-scoring Open section was won by Julia Wainwright for “One Last Breath” – a breathtaking image! 20s went to Julia for “Lake Fisherman Myanmar” and “Call of the Wild – Bald Eagle”. John Draper scored 20 for “Mother and Pup on Frozen Beach” and “Pasque Flower”; Dave Martin’s “Seal Pup on Horsey Beach” also scored 20. Cat gave three 19s and these were for Dave’s “Ladybird on Vine” and “Resting Chalkhill Blues” and Avril Candler’s “Moment of Comfort”. Cat awarded a further ten images 18 – and these can be seen on our Flickr page.
A great start to the new year and thanks to everyone who contributed to the competition, came along to support the evening and to Cat for her excellent judging.
