12th May: Open & Triptych Print competitions, judged by Kevin Day
Many thanks to Kevin Day, Stoke Poges Camera Club, for his erudite and helpful critiques across both competitions.
The Open section was won by Peter Keeble with ‘Pool’. Avril Candler’s ‘Juvenile Goldfinch with Seeds’ was second and YC Wei’s ‘Sunrise’ third. Highly commended were Peter’s ‘Gerona from the Eiffel Bridge’ and his ‘Tractor’. Commended were ‘Colours at Carnival’ by Mark Buckley-Sharp and ‘Unwanted Dungeness’ by Judy Buckley Sharp. Congratulations to Peter and thanks to everyone who contributed to the event.
The Triptych Trophy was awarded to Avril Candler for ‘Impressions of Autumn’; second was YC’s ‘London Marathon Participants 2025’ and Mark’s ‘St. Stefan Triptych’ third. Peter Polkinghorne’s ‘Adams Plaza’ and Judy’s ‘Paddington via Andy Warhol RGB’ were commended. Many congratulations to Avril and to all who entered.
This concludes our competition 2024/25 season. Once again very many thanks to Kevin for his excellent judging and participation in our feedback/open forum sessions. It was a very enjoyable evening.
Having completed the monthly competitions we can announce that the winner of the Projected Open Trophy is John Draper and YC Wei has won the Open Print Trophy. Many congratulations both.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the competitions, projected and particularly prints which require time, effort and cost! Finally thanks to everyone who attended our meetings – especially those who came along to Century for competitions, workshops and members’ evenings.
Next week we are back on Zoom for a talk by Stephen Dean LRPS APAGB on Themes and Journeys.
In the meantime have a good week and enjoy the sunshine.
