29th April: Portraits and People and Open Projected competitions, judged by Dave Stewart Deepings Camera Club

A great evening with Dave Stewart, Deepings Camera Club, judging our competitions in his informative and entertaining way.

The Open competition was won by Judith Gimber with ‘Rosy Pelican’;  in second place was ‘Georgia’ by Avril Candler and Trevor Alexander’s ‘Well Supported’ third.  Highly commended were John Draper’s ‘Catching Up’ and Avril’s ‘Jay at the Kitchen Window’.  Trevor’s ‘Fast Flowing’ and Judith’s ‘Young Hummingbird’ were commended.   Congratulations all.

Portraits and People:  The Annual Projected Trophy was awarded to John Draper for his ‘Big Issue Seller’ and his ‘Extinction Rebellion Demo’ was second;  Judith Gimber’s ‘Lighting Up Time’ was third.  Highly commended were ‘Carnival in Black White and Gold’ by Mark Buckley-Sharp, ‘The Shepherd’ by John Draper and ‘Wheelchair Marathon’ by YC Wei.  Commended were YC’s ‘Toward Big Ben’ and Peter Polkinghorne’s ‘Walk Up That Hill’.

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who entered the competitions and ‘came along’ to support the evening.  Special thanks to Dave Stewart for his erudite, helpful critiques which made a very enjoyable evening.

Next week we are ‘on holiday’ returning on the 13th May to Century for our Open and Triptych Print competitions which will be judged by Martin Patten.
